Stay and Play
Research shows children learn better when their parents are involved.
We encourage parents and carers to help the group on a regular basis. This ensures a higher than necessary ratio of adults to children and we find parents enjoy talking about it afterwards with their child. Indeed, at our last inspection Ofsted it was highlighted that 'Partnerships with parents are excellent'.
For working parents however, we know it is not always possible to attend sessions. If this applies to you and you are still keen to get involved in some way, we can look for other ways for you to contribute.
When your child starts with us, you will receive a weekly email. This will include details about the theme or focus for the forthcoming week, and suggest ways you can make this relevant for your child and help them engage with and contribute to it.
Management Committee - Meet the Committee
Being a community led pre-school and charitable organisation we rely on the goodwill of volunteers and a hard-working and supportive committee. Each September at the AGM a committee is elected to fulfil the various roles that are essential for the smooth running of the setting. As well as fulfilling these roles each member attends regular meetings throughout the year to discuss, review and implement changes, uphold policies and plan.
Kylie Hamshaw (Chair) - Joined committee in 2015
"I joined the committee because I wanted to get to know more about where my child was going to preschool and use my skills to help support so the preschool can continue to offer a fantastic environment for children for many years to come."
Fran Cox - Joined committee in 2008
"Having joined the Committee on a temporary basis, here I am still a few years on. I have enjoyed watching all six of my grandchildren pass through and progress to school. I love being involved with the organisation and helping the Committee make decisions to enable the already successful Pre-school to develop and grow."
Emma Crocker - Joined committee in 2018
"I joined the committee as I wanted to be able to support the Preschool that my daughter is attending. I was really surprised by how few actual parents were on the committee and felt that even though I only have a small amount of time to give, it was needed.”
Kate Edgar - Joined committee in 2018
"I have two children, one already at Humpty Dumpty’s and the other eager to join! I joined the committee so that I could feel more involved in the setting and support it so that it can continue to be such a happy and fun place in which our children can flourish."
David Long (Treasurer) - Joined committee in 2018
"I was asked to join the committee shortly after my first child started attending. Due to the pre-school being committee run I understood that being a part of the committee would help to keep the setting open. I have been a treasurer of another committee so I am hoping to fit straight into the role."
Liz Rump (Secretary) - Joined committee in 2015
"I welcomed the opportunity to join the committee and influence how the Pre-school is managed when my daughter started to attend in 2015; she is now at school but my younger son will attend pre-school. It has been a great way of meeting other local parents and get to know the staff better."
Jon Titlow (Vice Chair / Safeguarding) - Joined committee in 2016
"My own children attended many years ago and now my daughter is working at the pre-school. I aim to contribute to the ongoing success of this fantastic organisation."
